Passion for adventure

My dad, Wayne (pictured above) First became interested in the Kimberley coast in the 60s while at school looking at maps of the Australian coast. he noticed how rugged that area of the coast looked and thought he had to see it one day. that opportunity came when he started a construction job in derby in the mid 80s. he spent about a year trying to determine the perfect boat for long runs into the remote Kimberley coast. he finally settled on the Big Tinnie, a cathedral hull Stessl. with little boating experience some mates a lot of beer and fuel and a few charts he started exploring areas that at that point few people had ever seen.  Some of my earliest memories are from trips onboard the Big Tinnie and those experiences jumpstarted my passion for the Kimberley coast. The Big Tinnie even 40 years on is still our go to boat for exploring new places along this rugged coastline and after a big birthday it's getting more use than ever.
